I saw that you can buy the root on the internet, seems to be a bit cheaper than the tincture. But not sure how to use it. Thanks !

Hi Emily,

Yes usually yellow dock will stimulate bile production by the liver. Even if you do not have a gallbladder, this stimulation will happen. Worth a try.

can i take yellow dock if i have had my gallbladder removed?
by: Emily

Hi, I am suffering from chronic constipation after having my gallbladder out for almost 6 years. I have been on Miralax for the last year but would like to go off of it and ultimately not take anything. Is yellow dock effective as a bile tonic for the liver even if the gallbladder is removed? Do you have other suggestions for people with this condition?

Yes you can but...

Hi Jason,

Yes you can. But be prepared for an "interesting" taste. Yellow dock has a strong flavor that not everybody like. But do give it a try, it is also a way to get hydrated throughout the day.

Do this :
- Buy some quality bulk root (ex : mountain rose herbs)
- Use 25 to 50 grams for a quart of water
- Decoct for 20 minutes
- Drink the quart throughout the day when you are constipated

This will indeed be cheaper than the tincture, but requires a bit more preparation.

Good luck!
